Sexy Back...

So I lost my sexy many years ago, now I am on a new mission to get that sexy back.  For quite a few years, I haven't felt sexy nor do I feel like I have looked sexy.  I am for certain I am not alone on this issue.  So what does this have to do with habitual cravings? Well, for me quite honestly it has everything to do with it.  It is what helped me to lose my sexy and it is what will help me find it again.

Years of giving in to the cravings for sweets, candy, breads, carbs and you name it the list could go on forever have been huge contributing factors to losing my sexy.  "The naive view has always been that cravings represent wisdom of the body," says Marcia Pelchat, PhD, a food researcher at the Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia. But it's not so. Pelchat’s work has shown that people have cravings even with a diet that's adequate in calories and nutrients. "People will often say things, like, ‘Gee, I'm craving potato chips. I must need the salt,'" Pelchat says. "But really, how many of us -- aside from runners in hot weather -- are deficient in salt?" We feel virtuous blaming cravings on nutritional needs, Pelchat says. But "unfortunately, humans rely less on instincts and more on culture or individual experience to determine what they eat.” "If you have a cookie every day after school, just walking into the house cues you to have a cookie," she says. "If you don't get that cookie right away, your mind obsesses about it and turns it into a craving." There are many said reasons for craving certain foods, finding and avoiding those reasons is the adventure.

I have been trying to battle the cravings that I have been facing through this new lifestyle adjustment by finding replacements for those items.  In some cases, but not all I have found something to somewhat help me move past them. I have been trying to form new habits through this journey.  As of late, my husband and I have rejoined our local gym Snap Fitness.  I like to think of this as quality time spent together, even though he and I both do our own thing while we are there.  Why do I call this quality time spent together, because we are making a conscious effort, together, to get our personal "Sexy Back".  We have been going to the gym at least three days a week for the last four.  I, personally, am trying to form a habit.  I want to be successful on this new journey in my life.

As of late, I have been a little discouraged.  I guess I expected changing up my sedentary lifestyle and becoming moderately active, the pounds would drop off.  Even though everything I have ever heard indicates that most gain weight when introducing strength/cardio training into your lifestyle because of the muscles gained, I still get discouraged.  I feel like all the had work isn't paying off.  However, after talking to my husband about feeling discouraged, he spoke with the gym owner.  He indicates that, one should allow four to six weeks before seeing changes in weight and appearance.  I am happy to say that I am coming upon the four to six week mark and  I hope to experience what he is talking about soon.  So to those who are on a mission to get their "Sexy Back", don't give up.  First, form the habit to exercise.  Second, don't get discouraged when you don't see immediate results.  Lastly, fight to the finish to be healthy, fit and most importantly, SEXY.

Luscious Lemon Pudding Tart

I have always had a huge love for lemon and sweets.  Since I started Trim Healthy Mama, I have hesitated to eat a lot of dessert type foods because I know that eating sweets was something that I always enjoyed.  I, however, have been craving something with lemon as of late.  I searched and searched trying to find something that already existed, but nothing seemed just what I was looking for.  I ran ran across a recipe for a lemon poppy seed muffin by  Rohnda Sue  that gave me great inspiration.  I experimented with different sugar types and flour ratios hoping to come up with a bit of a dryer crumbly crust, similar to a graham cracker to no avail, then one particular time, this happened.  I believe this is due in part to the Xylitol, because other times this worked out just fine like a muffin should. The centers of the muffin sunk and I had a light bulb moment. The birth of the lemon tart, verified by Trim Healthy Mama trained folks as a H...

Yummy Pumpkin Whip

What does one trying to pick themselves up after falling off the wagon.  Off the Trim Healthy Mama wagon.  The wagon, where you eliminate sugar from your life.  A 43 year life of sugar addiction makes it impossible for allot of people to just give it up.  Even more difficult, is how does one satisfy the crazy, overtaking desire for sweetness?  Very carefully and planned out very strategically.  I know no other way.   So last night, I had that crazy "I am going to cave into the Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream if I don't find something sweet quick", desire for sweetness. So I whipped up some of this yummy pumpkin whip.  Did it work?  Certainly so.  I ate it and quickly went to bed. I know we have all been there so I decided to share my pumpkin concoction with you.  I hope that you enjoy.  Let me know if you try it and if you tweak it, please share your tweaks in the comments of my blog below. Heavenly Ham Casserole

I have been missing this amazing old family recipe; that has passed down through the generations, often taken to family reunions, holiday gatherings or other carry-ins.  Since I have been following Trim Healthy Mama, the  original recipe as it is written, doesn’t fit into the guidelines as a legal  dish to prepare and eat.   Recently, I was pondering how I could adapt the old favorite recipe to the Trim Healthy Mama lifestyle I have been following.  I have been messing with this in the kitchen for a while, I think I have finally come up with something that will work, so I decided to share it here.  The original recipe was made with potatoes.  We all know that potatoes are a Trim Healthy Mama “no-no.”  The adapted recipe below, is the closest thing to the original recipe I have found.  This would definitely be considered an "S" Dish. I hope that you will all try it and that you all en...
